Dear Laurina!
Thank you for giving without measure
Thank you for holding our space that was so fragile
Thank you for holding us when we needed to be held
Thank you for seeing where we needed space and for offering it to us
Thank you for asking us for clarity all along and without bias
Thank you for guiding us and sharing a piece of your own life every time we needed to relate
Thank you for being YOU. It was all we needed
Thank you for loving us
It is not typical that a client would write a public letter to her Doula. I am a different kind of client though. I am a Doula who hired a Doula to support us (my husband and I) and i know how much it means to read back from a client for a job well done. This one deserves more than i can tell you!
If you know me and know me well you would know I love to give credit where it’s due. You see there are some areas of my life where I am probed to be competitive but that varies too. It’s not that I am rich.. I am content where I am at, at this point of my life. So I have no reason to stomp on another’s light 😊🙏🏾
Laurina was our Doula for the birth of our little boy 👶🏽 Levi, end of last year
What should i say about this woman though that will make you understand our joy and gratitude for having had her support us?
‘Did you book her from Amsterdam? Someone asked me. YES! (can you hear me scream? I booked her ALL the way from Amsterdam and she was there EVERY.TIME.WE.NEEDED.HER.TO.BE
“Let me tell you something; some titles MUST come with the experience for me. If you know about hardships, then you can talk about it when you cross over to the living-it-big to my mind. You go out looking for your ‘soulmate’ when you have found your own soul’ is what I mean” - Doula Naomie
This woman not only has the experience we were after, she connected with my entire family and on a spooky kind of way. See; We certified as Bereavement Doulas in the same week in the same programme and exchanged quite a bit of our studies every time we felt the need to. That was kind of how we crossed paths before meeting in person at a symposium in Amsterdam.
And then! Our motherhood journeys turned out to be kind of similar too! Hold on to this sentence i will fill you in with how that is 😊🙏🏾
I need a whole series of blogs (coming shortly) to explain how our experience was MARVELOUS with this woman aboard! Stay tuned!
