KRAAMZORG PACKAGES & MORE INFO
NEW SERVICES FROM JANUARY 2024!
VIP (Vervroegde Inzet Partusassistentie)
This is translated as ‘ early birth assistance’. So to put it clearly; on the day of your birth, It can bring comfort knowing you will have someone you have met before and someone who understands the process of birth to offer emotional support to you and your partner.
Well, now you can book me as a doula to be present much earlier through your birth to support you (both). As opposed to the kraamzorg showing up when things get real (usually the midwife then decides to call for assistance towards the end of the birth, with a company about 2 hours beforehand)
You can already mention to your midwife that you would like to request this beforehand so they know I will arrive before they do
I have different packages I offer my clients in this regard. It mainly depends on what you need and what I can offer too. Message me directly with your inquiry at info@upendo-doula.com or kareminaomie@gmail.com

WHAT DOES KRAAMZORG ENTAIL, ESPECIALLY FOR THE EXPAT FAMILIES?
Booking a kraamzorg to support you after the birth of your baby should be done after your 20-week scan for definite. If there is a kraamzorg you want to support you, make contact with them immediately after you find out you are pregnant and update her after the 20-week scan.
Expat life away from family, friends network, and the loving extra hands to support can be overwhelming regardless of how you birth or the outcome of your birth. As mothers, and parents, ancestrally the role of the parent was never one that was intended for you to hurdle with alone. Society has an expectation of us swinging with it immediately we are discharged from the hospitals and the babies to sleep through the nights at day 4 of life already, far from the reality of things. This is because every birth experience is different and there have been families I have finished care with that I was sure were not ready to continue therefore stayed on the side for them, for however long they needed me to stay
Nationwide indication: The nationwide indication for Kraamzorg is 49 hours divided into 8 days. The second indication follows after birth because then together with the midwife, the kraamzorg can see where you need help more. It may be that the breastfeeding journey started hard, then you can alter your indication for support. Your kraamzorg will always explain this in detail when they come to do the intake appointment with you either in person or by phone
In the Netherlands, Kraamzorg care is covered by your insurance even in the basic package. Some insurance companies cover up to 30 hours and others the minimum of 49 hours. By some and most actually, you still need to pay the personal contribution yourself of €5.10/hour to the kraamzorg. You will be billed directly for this. So it is wise to check with your insurance which coverage you have and what it entails ahead of time
With international insurance, many times you cannot be registered on the system in the Netherlands. Your rate then falls under the NZa rate. (You can ask your Kraamzorg what the current rate is so you are prepared) The agreement should therefore be to bill the clients directly, they pay the kraamzorg and then invoice their insurance for compensation
Contract: Know beforehand if and when you would like to contract a Kraamzorg. Once contracted a Kraamzorg should be able to come and do the duties she needs to. The demand for Kraamzorg is high and therefore you cannot cancel or decide one day on and two days not after you contract one. This is someone’s work, and they are responsible for being the middleman between the hospital and the midwives. You are expected to contact your kraamzorg on the day you leave the hospital for example so that they can continue the care from the hospital at home. Think of it like this, if the well-being of either the mother/parent or the baby changes hours after being discharged, the Kraamzorg will be the one to be questioned because the checks for both mother and baby should have been followed up at the welcome appointment which is the opstart zorg
KRAAMZORG EXTRA
This is a package that was born after getting different requests following the general Kraamzorg support for 8 or 10 days.
I will provide general nursing care to patients at their homes. The services will include general well-being care, advice on what is normal and what is not, breastfeeding support, and meal preparation (if needed and time allowed). I will not diagnose, prescribe medication, or initiate care because your ‘dossier’ would already have been closed by your kraamzorg on the last day they provided care.
The service is intended for a short duration from a few hours to a few days. I aim to help you alleviate the stress, anxiety, or fear families face the first moments your kraamzorg leaves. The transition period can be scary and that's where I come in.
You can book this directly with me as this is not covered by your insurance
It may be that you and/or your baby have not fully recovered by the end of the care week, maybe the usual 8 days or even the extra 2 days (day 9 & 10) which a midwife can indicate for you. You can then book me directly for Kraamzorg Extra.
The rates are €58 per hour. A whole day would then cost you €290 (You will get 6 hours of care for the price of 5 this way)
