Not all babies go home…

As a mother, this is the hardest things you want to hear. As a person however, it is best to acknowledge it as life’s truth. In my line of work as a Doula I touch on this subject with my clients ahead of time (if they allow me to) because it is a topic that is still hushed about and also a taboo subject

This is one of the sets I made for a family that booked me to support them in their bereavement moment. Their daughter was too small to fit into anything, So i made her a burial set and keep-sakes for the family to keep

You see.. nobody wants to imagine losing a child. It is not something you wish even on a worst enemy. The death of a child is one of life’s hardest event to experience. In todays’ world also, we are almost made to believe that ‘medicine has advanced so much, so almost everything can be fixed

The subject of loss is also one that extended family and friends struggle with. Many people expect to be able to do something, to fix you up, to make you feel better when they finally come to you following the death of a child. The need to fix and help you feel better is one that is of human nature. The reality though is that nothing needs to be fixed. You need support in this moment and time. Not folk tip-toeing around you trying so hard not to offend you by saying the wrong things

The subject on the early postpartum days, the need for support in the postpartum period and the need for everyone to honor the postpartum is one area is sing about. The postpartum period is a RITE of passage where I am from. The postpartum is a moment of connection and celebration because the ancestral lineage is strengthened by the arrival of one. Therefore my Clubhouse rooms are all about the postpartum. Here is an episode recorded straight from there for you to listen back to. I have had newly trained Doulas contact me for a training in this regard. A workshop/course is being created and I will post about it here on my page if you would like to join

Here is the podcast recording to listen back to. You will hear Anna and other women who frequent my rooms share their own real-lived experiences. If the recording blesses you or someone else in your life, please consider subscribing to the channel

Also check the clubhouse room LAYERS WITHIN which will restart soon with meaningful conversations and join us sometime. If you would prefer to follow along without joining the rooms that’s also fine. Playbacks are always available after the rooms are held, so you can always hear the conversation back. Thank you in advance!
