The importance of Ceremonies
This month, the month of growth, celebration, and togetherness I decided to hold my daughter’s womb ceremony. A ceremony that my mother had kept reminding me to hold for her granddaughter since this summer. Womb ceremonies are held categorically in Mombasa where I am originally from and it is a teaching that is given early on
If you are raising daughters or a daughter, as a parent it is important that we pass on the wisdom ourselves. There are many things that are never shared in different cultures for whatever reason that many young women grow up to learn through magazines, novels, and maybe movies. These days you can find every information you like online but the difference lays in how that information is presented and passed on
As a mother raising a daughter, I made it our duty together with my husband to instill the teachings ourselves while we still are here with her. That she will grow knowing that we were the first teachers who spoke to her about things and that whatever else she will learn will be a confirmation and affirmation of what we already had discussed. That she will say to herself ‘my parents touched on this topic with me 1:1 already
If you are parents raising daughters and you would like to have a ceremony for them, I am offering this as a package from 2022! You can book me directly at Info@upendo-doula.com
